Light painting with multiple light sources

This evening I thought I’d fool around with ; Tea lights, an LED flash light, an LED pointer and see what I could come up with.I usually set my action figures on a black backdrop and then light them up with my table lamp or use ambient light in the room. I tried a few variations with the light sources mentioned above and this is what I got. :)

Windshield repairs

One of the hazards of driving on an expressway are the stones that sometimes fly off trucks ahead of you and smack into your windshield at more than 120 kmph.I’ve got a lot of marks on my glass from 2 years of driving but recently got a real big one right near the driver’s side and it had the potential to crack so reluctantly I went to one of the dreaded places in Kuwait… Canada Dry Street, Shuwaikh! :D

NBK walkathon 2010

The 16th annual walkathon is scheduled for March 27th this year. And as fate would have it I’m at the worst possible shape I’ve ever been. Thankfully I’ve decided to give weight lifting a low priority and focus more on endurance training. There is no update on whether registrations have started but I’m guessing it will be at the same location as last year; near the Scientific Center in Salmiya

Sargam Restaurant – Salmiya

We had a hankering for chaat this weekend and a bunch of us went to Sargam to try out their chaat offerings. My initial impression was really good, the others shared my opinion too as the chaat was fresh, the puris were crispy and the sauces were good too. But after the third dish things started to get boring really fast. All the dishes were made the same way and they all had the same combination of curd, cucumber and spices. If I’m gonna order three or four different kinds of chaat I’d like them to taste different otherwise whats the point?

I would suggest you just order the Pani Puri, the papadi chaat and then maybe the samosa chaat. We ordered a dahi puri and kachori chaat after that and it tasted exactly the same! I may be a Malayali but I sure as hell know my chaat ;) and on a last note.. the pakodas were good but could have been crispier.

Clever marketing but remains to see if they can live up to their claim.

Waiting for the fruits of my labor

I had planted some tomato seeds a few months ago and recently I shifted them to my parents apartment since their balcony faces the east and I want my guys to get lots of sunshine. I’m not a gardening enthusiast nor do I have a green thumb but I found the process of sowing and planting quite interesting.

1. Prepare pots, soil and manure

2. Mix the planting mixture/soil and place it in the pot. Take care not to compress all the soil into the pot, we need to keep it porous.

3. Plant the seedlings (before this step you have to germinate the seeds in a smaller pot and transfer them when they’ve developed shoots and roots.

4. Keep them in a well ventilated place and water them regularly

Now the hard part is waiting till I can use these tomatoes in a salad or sandwich :(

Weather formula

The weather looked so promising yesterday I made plans to go out this weekend and shoot some picture but this morning BAM!! and fucking dust again!!!

Its been a while since I’ve done any programming but if theres a higher power up there,  he must have some weather code running along these lines;

#include <iostream.h>

int main()

{

int x = Sys Day;

int y = Thursday;

if (x != y) {

cout << “Bright and Sunny day” << endl;

}

else {

cout << “DUST, DUST AND MORE DUST” << endl;

}

return 0;

}

Have a nice weekend :(

Another visit to Daiso

Its been a while since I’ve been to Daiso and the first thing I noticed was that they’ve raised the minimum from 500 fils to 600 fils! I guess even Daiso is affected by inflation ;)   I wanted a couple of small boxes to hold my craft tools and supplies so I headed straight to the hardware/stationery section. The first box I picked up was a simple plastic tool box with separated containers on the top and secondly I wanted a smaller box to hold my ‘in-progress’ pieces and smaller items.

Big box – 1.5 KD

Small box – 600 fils

Homemade muffins!

I’d say that one of the best muffins I’ve had in Kuwait was from Buongiorno but my wife  made some of her own and I’ve changed my mind. Well to be honest the mini muffins she made were just as good(or even better)!

One of the perks I get from helping around the house is an early tasting of the product and they were delicious :) She made Apple and Banana muffins in two batches

Unfortunately I don’t know her recipe so if you want to find out leave a comment and maybe she’ll give you the recipe. ;)
