This weekend one of my friends wanted to treat us all to dinner so he made reservations at the newly opened Caesar’s Dakshin Restaurant in Jleeb. Boy, was that a BIG mistake ! Now as I’ve said before I’ve been a Caesar’s customer since the 80′s and they’re known for good food and excellent service but this was just the opposite.
The restaurant features a diverse menu from 5 southern Indian states so we ordered a variety of dishes. Our waiter for the evening was an incompetent chap called Mr.K. Here’s how it started
1.
me: I’d like to try the Duck Xacuti
k: huh ? is that even on the menu ? never heard of it !
and then looked at me like I just invented the damn dish right there.
2.
me: I’ll also have the fried mussels, how big are the portions ?
k: umm… it should be adequate
me: WTF ?? how do you know
3. They served the dishes of the main course and left us waiting 20 minutes for the accompaniments. We didn’t make a fuss about bringing it late, its just that when you leave the dishes on the table for close to half an hour while waiting for the breads to arrive, they get cold.

Mr. K then started to blame the kitchen staff saying they’re new and cannot handle the orders.. what the hell ??? It was his job to make sure to serve the dinner in order, not in installments. Anyway we paid for whatever we had and even left a tip for Mr. K. We then proceeded to a nearby fast food shop to have some sandwiches and juice. The management better train the staff properly if they want to maintain the excellent service that we get at other Caesar’s restaurants.
Update: My second experience at Dakshin was quite good! [Link]

The Toy Room

Boy ! somebody’s gonna lose job here
I never tried Ceasers other than the pastry (which I Like) … will give it a try in Salmiya
My wife didnt want me to mention his name coz he might lose his job but the service was bad compared to other Caesar’s places. I love their pastry too !
It’s about time we had a decent Indian restaurant in Kuwait. I am yet to taste something authentic!
If you want to try authentic food, a big fancy restaurant is not a good option. Try one of the smaller joints where its 100% authentic.
I second that!
hey guys, dont be so let down…. Never be confused…. This is the most authentic South Indian Restaurant in Kuwait…. try some real south indian if you are vistiting that place not with the north or an afghani taste everything will taste new… and about Mr.K… Keep it a Suprise…. Better than atleast spending some Dinars…. Lolz!!!!
