Will Kuwait host the Olympics?

Here’s an interesting article. [link] There’s a sports complex on the 6th Ring Road, I wonder if that’s the area in question.

Thanks Instant Cravings!

Following Qatar’s pledge to spend $50bn in its bid to host the World Cup in 2022, Kuwait is tendering a design package for a multibillion-dollar Olympic Village.

The proposed sports complex is scheduled to contain a 70,000-80,000-capacity stadium and Olympic-sized swimming facilities. The planned Sabah al-Ahmed development will enable Kuwait to bid for the Olympic Games in the future.

Red Bull Car Park Drift

Just got back from the race track and I’m covered in dust from head to fricking toe but it was worth it. :) The drifts were not as spectacular as those seen at other races, heck even some of those boys near my home, who drive those Datsuns, could probably do a better job.

Meal in a glass

Heres my recipe for a quick smoothie thats also a meal replacement.

Drinking Chocolate

Ripe Bananas

Instant Oats

Milk

Blend all the ingredients on high for about a minute and pour into your flask or glass. I’m not sure how many calories its got but the oats and bananas provide adequate energy for a long work out session or walk.

Mission Accomplished

I just got back from the Walkathon, took me 1 Hour, 23 minutes and 56 Seconds to complete the 8 Kilometer course. :P Not too bad, if I say so myself.

My new workout buddy

Its been a month since we’ve had this elliptical machine and I guess now would be a good time to review it. :P This is the Proform 500F Elliptical Trainer from Sears, Farwaniya. The listed price was 240 KD but we got a good discount on the machine. We had also considered a Kettler CT 307 that we saw at Go-Sports in Avenues mall but we ultimately went ahead with this model.

NBK Walkathon 2010 – Registration

This year the walkathon registration is inside The Scientific Center, Salmiya. As usual they take your Civil ID number, fill out the form and take your Blood Pressure. Once thats over they hand you your Jersey number, NBK baseball cap and a lucky draw form and rules.

Just a few more days to go :)

NBK walkathon 2010

The 16th annual walkathon is scheduled for March 27th this year. And as fate would have it I’m at the worst possible shape I’ve ever been. Thankfully I’ve decided to give weight lifting a low priority and focus more on endurance training. There is no update on whether registrations have started but I’m guessing it will be at the same location as last year; near the Scientific Center in Salmiya

Must…start…training…!

This is Ruby, my friend’s Lab [link]

I’ve been reaaaally lazy this past couple of weeks (I blame the weather :D ) and now must bring myself to get my lazy ass into my walking shoes and start walking. Here are some tips to start;

via www.ehow.com
[link]

Step 1: Invest in a good pair of running shoes and comfortable running clothes.
Step 2: Begin by walking. You’ll want to convert 20 to 30 minutes of walking into 20 to 30 minutes of running.
Step 3: Take 10 weeks. For each walk during the first week, intersperse three 1-minute segments of jogging or running to your program.
Step 4: Add 3 minutes of running to the three segments during each week. One-minute segments become 2-minute segments the second week, become 3-minute segments the third week and so on. By the end of 10 weeks, you should be completing a 30- minute jog.
Step 5: Aim for at least three training sessions per week. Rest on days in between sessions. Don’t do them consecutively.
Step 6: Aim to finish the race; don’t aim for a specific time. Run as you would in your training sessions.
Step 7: Run relaxed. Don’t get pulled out into a sprint by the crowd.

Weighty issues

The holidays were not too kind to me last year, especially Christmas and New Year’s. I was assessing the damages when I realized that the NBK annual walkathon is less than 3 months away and I’m in the worst possible shape ever! My result in the contest was not good last year and at this rate I dont think it can get any better. I’m going for a different work out schedule this time that concentrates on stamina rather than building more muscle.

Thanks to my buddy RK, I’ve resumed my periodic swimming work outs too but its not enough and I need to start walking more so as to increase my long distance stamina.
